ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 is the International Standard that lays out a specification for a service management system. The standard was revised in September 2018 and we posted at the time what the key changes were and released a book, A Guide to ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 Service Management by Dolf van der Haven which has now gone on to become official literature for the EXIN Foundation exam that will be released later this month.

At the time we released our first guide, we received some pretty stinging feedback via the review system on Amazon about it which specifically mentioned it not containing sufficient guidance. A lot of the feedback we didn’t agree as the book was never intended to be any more than a introduction to the new standard, providing an overview.

But no one should ever say we don’t listen, even when we don’t necessarily agree with the message or the messenger. To this end, Dolf set to work creating a book much longer in length that gives practical guidance on implementing the standard, the results of these labours is ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 The Impementation Guide.
